Also known as pallet trucks, pallet pumps and pump trucks, these wheeled vehicles are used to lift and move heavy loads in warehouses, loading docks, manufacturing plants and other industrial environments. Pallet jacks have forks that slide or enter under the openings of pallets, slides, cargo, and containers, and they have a hydraulic pump to lift the loaded forks. Pallet jacks require less maintenance than forklifts and can be operated more easily in tight spaces. Manual pallet jacks are operated entirely by hand and require less maintenance than fully powered and partially powered pallet jacks. Manual lift/power-driven pallet trucks and electric pallet trucks are fully or partially powered by electric motors and require less physical operation than manual pallet trucks. Note: Pallet trucks should be used on a solid, level surface as they may roll back and cause injury to the operator if used on an incline.
